EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

EXAMINATION SUPPORT

November is a busy month with External exams being held. Our 2019 results maintained the exceptional results that NCAM students always achieve with a 100% pass rate.  Congratulations to all of our students who passed with Merit and or Distinction.  Outstanding Effort!!

The academy acknowledges that November is a very busy time for our students and families, therefore in 2020 to alleviate any undue pressure, the academy will consider moving our External examination dates to August.  Please see your tutor to discuss this further with them next year.

EXAMINATIONS

The Academy encourages students to take examinations, which, while not essential, are an excellent way for students to develop and extend their abilities. We do try to group book all of our academy students together, so that we can support and encourage your child throughout the entire process.

The Academy prepares students for the following examinations:
  • Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London (ABRSM) https://nz.abrsm.org/en/
  • Trinity College, London (TCL) https://www.trinitycollege.com/local-trinity/new-zealand

Academy students consistently gain outstanding results in these examinations.

Closing date for entries: To be notified. Examination fees must be paid by the due date (separate from other charges) to the Treasurer.

Examinations are held in June, August/September and October/November. Aural courses are held in preparation for the November session.

Cost: These are set by the Examination board.
(Please note that there is an additional accompanist fee charged, payable to the academy prior to your examination date. please see refer to our
Fees page.)

Venue: Currently exams are held at the Piano in central Christchurch

AURAL CLASSES & REHEARSALS

Examination preparation includes aural classes and rehearsals with an accompanist. Aural classes run for 10 weeks leading up to the examination in November. For the cost of aural classes and accompanists, see our Fees page.

Note: The cost of rehearsals incurs an additional charge, based on the individual accompanist's hourly rate.
